This Cup was originally presented to the winners of the event for schools and colleges at the Henley Peace Regatta of 1919. It was won outright by Shrewsbury School who placed it on permanent loan to the Schools Regatta in 1964, to be raced for each year by School Second Eights. Thus it is that the two cups presented for schools at the two post-war special Henley Regattas, the Elsenham and the Hedsor Cup, are both among the trophies offered by the National Schools Regatta.
