Draw schemes for all events can be found on The Draw page.

Time trials will be run for all events with over 12 entries.
For events with 13-24 entries, the fastest 12 will proceed to 2 semifinals.
For events with over 24 entries, the fastest 18 will proceed to 3 semifinals.

Time trials on Friday will be rowed over 1000m.
Time trials on Saturday and Sunday will be rowed over 1500m

Events on Friday will be rowed over 1000m.
Events on Saturday and Sunday to be rowed over 2000m.

Please note that in the event of further racing being cancelled due to weather conditions after the time trials have been conducted, prizes may be awarded on the basis of the time trial results.Therefore crews are advised to aim for their best possible time rather than a time that may be sufficient to qualify.

ELIGIBILITY

  1. All bona fide members of School Rowing Clubs are eligible provided they are under 19 on the day of competition.
  2. Members of other Rowing Clubs may compete up to the age of 19 provided that they are still in genuine secondary education. Those who qualify under the BR Junior category may compete whether in secondary education or not.
  3. Save in circumstances disclosed to the committee prior to the entry being made and accepted by them as exceptional, competitors must have been registered as School or Club members by the 1st September previous to the regatta.

The Committee reserves the right to refuse an entry without explanation,(BR rule 5.2.3(c)), and it will do so if it feels clubs/athletes are competing under "flags of convenience". If in doubt please contact Hon. Sec. for Entries.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  • No individual may compete for more than one boat club during the Regatta.
  • No doubling-up within a single day will be permitted
  • Composite crews are not permitted
  • Each crew must be entered for the event designated for it or the one above.
  • The regatta will not accept the entry of competitors below J14.
  • The regatta will not accept the entry of competitors in J14 or younger age groups in sweep-oared events (BR rule 3-3-3e).
  • The regatta will not accept the entry of any cox below J13.
  • No competitor may compete on all three days (except coxes).
  • Competitors who enter 1ST4+ may not enter CH4x, CH4-, CH4+ or CH2- (except coxes).
  • Competitors who enter GIRLS4+ may not enter CHG4x, CHG4- or CHG2- (except coxes).
  • Crews entered for 3RD8+, must NOT contain more than 3 J16's (excl cox).
  • The J164+ event is NOT open to any competitor who raced in any VIII on the Saturday (except coxes).
  • A club may not enter a crew for a Second Eights event (J152ND8+, J162ND8+, 2ND8+) unless it has entered at least one crew for a first eights event in the same age category (J15CHA8+, J151STB8+, J16CHA8+, J161STB8+, CH8+, 1ST8+).
  • A club may not enter a crew for the J148x+2 event unless it has entered at least one crew for the J148x+1 event.
  • A club may not enter a crew for the J144x+2 event unless it has entered at least one crew for the J144x+1 event..
  • Each competitor or crew shall have a named manager/coach. The coach must be over 18, named on the entry form and a current mobile phone number must be provided. (This information will be kept securely by the entries secretary, but will be readily available if it becomes necessary to contact the coach urgently.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Competitors and those responsible for them should be aware that photographers operate at national sporting events and the subsequent photographs may be freely used.

WATERMANSHIP

In the interest of safety, coaches are requested not to enter crews whose ability to cope with rough conditions at the NWSC and the 2000m distance, is suspect.
The Committee reserve the right to withdraw crews from the Regatta who, due to a lack of watermanship, may endanger the safety of themselves or of other crews, or disrupt the Regatta.

BICYCLES, SKATEBOARDS AMD ROLLERBLADES

In the interest of safety none of these are allowed at the Regatta.

The only exception is that one coach per crew may follow a race
- provided an authorised bib is worn (which may be obtained from the raft marshal's office).
No cycling is permitted in the boating area
.

NO spectators will be allowed to follow races (other than on the buses)
- will Schools and Clubs please inform supporters of this.

Sanctions may be taken against clubs whose supporters or coaches contravene these rules.

BOATS

Each crew shall provide its own boat. The Committee cannot make allowances for boat sharing in the timetable.
Each boat shall be fitted with an Empacher slot for a lane number, without which a crew may not start.
Attention is drawn to BR Rules of Racing 2-3-8 (a).

  PRIZES

Medals will be presented to the first three crews in all events provided that at least one further crew competes. Winners will be required to sign a receipt for any trophy taken away, to insure it, to return it in good repair and engraved.

ENTRIES

CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES: MIDNIGHT ON WEDNESDAY 19th MAY 2010

Except in exceptional circumstances and then only by agreement with the entries secretary,
All entries must be made via the British Rowing Online Entry System (http://www.britishrowing.org/).

Please ensure contact telephone numbers (day and evening) are entered.

In accordance with the Rules of racing, the regatta will be inspecting a selection of racing licences which, complete with photograph, must be readily available.

PAYMENT

CLOSING DATE FOR PAYMENT: MIDNIGHT ON WEDNESDAY 19th MAY 2010

Entry fees will be £10.50 per competitor, including Coxes.

Payment may be made:

  • Via the British Rowing Online Entry website.
  • By cheque payable to The National Schools' Regatta which must reach the entries secretary by the closing date.
  • By electronic bank transfer:

    • Payment must reach the NSR bank account by the closing date or the entry will not be accepted (please allow 3 working days).

If an event is cancelled the Committee will endeavour to refund up to 50% of the entry fee.

WITHDRAWAL

Any competitors who fail to appear for their races will be required to pay a penalty equal to the entry fee or they or their clubs may be debarred from other events in the regatta. Withdrawal will be excused without penalty if notice is given to the Hon. Sec. for Entries and there are acceptable reasons. If the penalty is not paid, no entries will be accepted from that school or club in the following year.
